Job Summary: Reporting to the Senior Manager this position will provide essential day-to-day oversight of hourly employees and floor operations in the Food & Beverage (F&B) Department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: -Responsible for maintaining a high degree of customer service and hospitality at all times. -Responsible for the hiring, training and developing of hourly team members to build cross functional knowledge of operational processes, industry standards and emerging technologies. -Accountable for ongoing feedback and performance reviews of all hourly and seasonal employees in your assigned area. Responsible for acting fairly, consistently and legally when identifying what disciplinary action is appropriate. -Knowledgeable of policies regarding personnel and administer prompt, fair and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules and procedures. -Responsible for understanding the roles & responsibilities of direct reports and ensuring they understand how their role contributes to the success of the company. -Assists with ensuring that safety and security standards are adhered to and that employees are properly trained in current position and knowledgeable of the company's Safety Plan and Injury and Illness Prevention Program. -Works collaboratively with internal team leaders to promote the Fun and Games program and be able to articulate to Food and Beverage employees the Canterbury Parks customer service philosophy. -Maintains a positive and professional demeanor at all times. -Responsible for preparing and managing hourly employees' schedules to accommodate business needs while managing employee breaks, shift changes, & shift meetings. -Ensures all employees are reporting to work in a timely manner and in the proper locations. -Ensures that all Food and Beverage locations are stocked with an adequate supply of operational essentials so that employees may perform at a high level. -Supports employees with hands on assistance as needed. -Ensures proper staffing is provided at all locations during service hours. -Review forecast tools and documents and make recommendations and adjustments as needed to schedules and staffing. -Assist Senior Manager in keeping operating costs to a minimum by efficient and responsible use of resources, which includes managing labor cost and making cost saving suggestions. -Oversees maintenance of inventory control procedures and maintains and safeguards the inventory of products, supplies and equipment. -Increase guest satisfaction level by delivering an improved product through employee development, job engineering and quality image. -Analyzes customer and employee comments and share them with senior manager to ensure there is follow up. -Assist the Executive Chef in analysis of the production of new menu items and completely new menus. -Ensuring price changes are properly reflected throughout the building when applicable. -Ensures all Food and Beverage is served to company standards and expectations. -Continually monitor activities of staff to ensure efficient operation; which includes sets up floor assignments, early releases, and section rotations for staff to ensure proper coverage at all times. -Assists in optimizing beverage selections, promotions and on floor sales tactics. Orders supplies as necessary. -Disseminate company wide information to front-line employees to ensure they are kept well-informed of corporate communications, policy changes, etc. -Anticipates the needs of guests and employees. -Perform other duties as assigned. Supervision: -Food Stand Associates I, Food Stand Associates II, Club and Card Room Servers, Club and Card Room Wait Assistants, Bartenders, and Supervisors. -Assist with the supervision of back of house food and beverage employees working in front of house stands, i.e. Cooks I, II and III. Required Qualifications: -High School Diploma or GED, and 3 years of previous Manager experience or 6 years or more of progressive supervisor experience in the Hospitality industry or related field; OR any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been achieved. -Requires computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher and PowerPoint). -Requires prior experience with POS systems. -Requires extensive knowledge in Food and Beverage operations. -Requires excellent written and verbal communication, customer service, and organizational skills. -Must be able to interact with guests, coworkers, and management in a professional and courteous manner. -Skills for problem solving, analysis and effective decision making. -Must be a team player willing to work with all departments. -Must be able to make informed decisions, remain calm in stressful situations, and focus on multiple tasks. -Must possess excellent management, administrative, organizational and leadership abilities. -Ability to self-motivate/direct as well as motivate employees/team to achieve department objectives. -Must be able to pass Canterbury Park's pre-employment screening which includes a criminal background check and verification of work history. -Must be able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license. Preferred Qualifications: -Certification, Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality or related field is desirable. -Prior knowledge of the Micros POS system and must demonstrate the ability to handle all programming needs and also possess troubleshooting techniques. -Prior knowledge of Open Table Reservation System. -Serve Safe Certified (Managers Certification) & Tips Certified would be preferred. Additional Duties could include: -On site property MICROS expert. -Weekly Manager on Duty Shifts. -Master programmer handling the bulk of any POS programming. -Train all F&B supervisory level employees on MICROS troubleshooting and basic programming -Work with IT Manager for CPI compliance testing also any network needs including tablet networking. -Work with Accounting Department to ensure they receive appropriate reports. -Work with Guest Services Senior Manager to assist with any training and programming needs. -Assists Senior Food and Beverage Manager with future planning of the Food and Beverage Department.
