Wild Paws BOD RecruitmentThe Wild Paws Midwest Animal Sanctuary is increasing our Board of Directors. We are seeking individuals with varying skill sets who enjoy working collaboratively with other like-minded individuals, who are passionate about the welfare of wild animals and our environment. We are specifically looking for individuals with experience in the following:Board Secretary will work closely with the board, especially its officers, to maintain organization and board documentation. This position will include setting up in-person and virtual meetings, setting up agenda and record/distribute minutes. Also includes maintaining Gdrive documents, email addresses/responses, Customer Relations Management (CRM) and other online services. We are looking for a detail-oriented, highly motivated individual with strong communication skills.Legal Oversight Seeking someone who is an attorney or someone with highly regarded legal expertise; position is pro bono. You will work closely with the Wild Paws Board of Directors to provide legal guidance and counsel regarding established documents, contractual agreements, as well as provide legal perspective to our strategic plan, board discussions, decisions and policy making.Marketing & Website will work closely with the Board and the Marketing/Fundraising/Events Lead to coordinate the organization's overall communications strategies to broaden the impact of Wild Paws' programs and organizational messaging through website revision, and working closely with our communication, enews, blog and social media team to create a vibrant online presence. We are seeking an individual with design and website knowledge, as well as proficient creative writing and communication skills.Public Relations/Media will work closely with the Board and Marketing Lead to establish and coordinate the organization's overall communications strategies to broaden the impact of Wild Paws programs and organizational messaging. Help define and to identify significant media and public policy issues that can be leveraged to support Wild Paws work, and help create and implement plans to expand exposure to our mission. Qualifications would include a strong record of positioning an organization to achieve tangible outcomes in a competitive communications environment, and the ability to coach and support leads as spokespersons.Development Coordinator will work closely with the Board and Fundraising Lead to establish and coordinate the organization's fundraising plan. This position will help define fundraising sources and corporate sponsorships. This position will also help to maintain donor records, solicit and acknowledge donations. We are seeking someone who is willing to arrange and attend meetings with donors and prospective donors.Wild Paws Board Member Job DescriptionThis is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about wildlife and the environment. The Wild Paws Board of Directors is a working board which provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance, therefore the expectation is to actively collaborate with our team on an ongoing basis.Specific responsibilities include:Leadership, governance and oversight

  • Active participation and forward thinking to determine the choices for the organization
  • Providing ethical financial oversight and stability by upholding Wild Paws foundation of transparency and accountability
  • Approving Wild Paws annual budget, annual report, tax filings, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
  • Strategic planning and regular evaluation throughout the year of Wild Paws goals and outcomes
  • Personal accountability and preparation in reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings
  • Partnering with the other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
  • Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
  • Representing Wild Paws to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization
  • Assisting the board chair in identifying and recruiting other Board MembersFundraising
    • Board Members will commit to participating in Wild Paws Mission and to our financial sustainability, ensuring that Wild Paws can credibly solicit contributions from foundations, organizations, and individuals. Wild Paws is a 100% board financial contribution organization.Qualifications
      • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion to end wild animal ownership and restore human-animal relationships
      • A commitment to and understanding of wildlife conservation and sustainable energy
      • Enthusiasm to educate the public about the preservation of wild animals and their ecosystems
      • Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals
      • Prefer experience with significant leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector
      • Demonstrated experience delivering outcomes in a team environmentBoard terms/participation
        • Board Members will serve a three-year term; lesser term length negotiable per individual basis
        • 90-day period before final decision
        • There is no limit to the number of consecutive terms directors may serve
        • A requested leave of absence, including length, shall be approved by the board as needed
        • Board meetings will be held monthly
        • Service on Wild Paws Board of Directors is without remuneration
        • Expectation of minimum 5-10 hours per month and more during peak times (i.e. annual planning, summer season, events, etc.)
