Job Description Job Description Summary The Truck Driver will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods and other articles of trade to our customers. You will be tasked with driving and maintaining trucks that will be assigned to you, as well as communicating and coordinating closely with our logistics team to plan routes and track deliveries. Supervisory Responsibilities There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position. Essential Functions Drive local and occasional long distances to deliver goods to customers. Load and unload product on and off trailers when necessary. Able to hand load and hand unload occasionally with forklift and or pallet jack. Record cargo deliveries. Receive signatures accordingly per shipping manifest. Tag your load and review for accuracy. Confirm load count with shipping manifest and bill of lading. Verify loading and unloading. Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within your trailer. Refuel and clean vehicle. Report road incidents to the dispatcher. Report defects, accidents, or violations. Follow traffic laws. Inspect trucks and record issues. Performing pre-and post-trip vehicle inspection. Follow accident procedures. Keep an activity log and log hours. Report mechanical problems to maintenance personnel. Plan routes using GPS system. Get goods to the client on time. Maneuver truck into loading or unloading positions. Interacting with customers and vendors in a professional manner. Maintain cell phone contact with dispatch and the other drivers to receive any delivery instructions, changes or vendor pickups. Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures. Keep CDL up to date. Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of traffic laws and DOT regulations Proven work experience as a truck driver Adaptable and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions) Pallet jack experience required; forklift experience preferred but not required, can train. Able to pass random drug tests. Good communication skills Dependability Ability to perform basic math. Fluent in English: Reading, writing, communicating Education and Experience Class A CDL or commercial driver license. Must pass drug and alcohol test. Must have a clean driving record. Must provide a medical certificate. High school diploma. Physical Requirements The physical demands described are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The CDL Driver must meet all DOT physical requirements and maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate. This role requires the ability to sit for extended periods while driving, climb in and out of the vehicle and trailer, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. The driver must be able to safely operate vehicle controls, couple and uncouple trailers, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, and work in varying weather conditions while maintaining alertness to traffic and safety hazards.
